Before I read this book, I thought, like most people do, being accountable was a punishment. An “Uh oh, what did I do wrong, or what did I forget to do?”
Webster defines accountability as “the quality or state of being accountable: an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility for one’s actions.” Nothing threatening about that.
So, what is it about this book? Winning with Accountability takes a front end, from the beginning approach to people and organizations being accountable for what they say they are committed to and gives a four-step process for completing and having a Culture of Accountability. What I learned from this book is that it all begins with me. What am I willing to be responsible for, take the lead on, share with others? What am I committed to? The book reminds us that being specific with our promises and commitments builds trust in relationships and promotes better communication within organizations, families, communities, the world.
I recommend this book for all to read. It will help clarify Accountability and living in a Culture of Accountability for companies and individuals alike. What are you committed to in your company and in your life?
Keep Living in the Culture of Accountability!
